Is a Micro-Wedding right for you?
Information and Locations
What is a Micro-wedding?
There are really no rules, a micro-wedding consists of a less-traditional ceremony and reception with anywhere from zero to 40-ish guests. It’s a different way of celebrating your special day that is in between an elopement and a full-blown wedding. Micro-weddings will often feature a wedding ceremony outdoors. Think, national parks, mountains, lakes, beaches, etc.
After the ceremony, the “Reception” often takes place at a local restaurant, rental home, or backyard.
Many couples still incorporate elements like a first dance, cake cutting, and toasts.
Who are they for?
There are no rules, remember!
Your wedding can be customized to fit your personalities and budget, from a mountaintop elopement to a casual wedding at the local park.
Couples that are drawn to this idea are typically looking to avoid the stresses and expenses that come with traditional ceremonies, opting instead to create an intimate experience with their close friends and family.
Micro-weddings offer a budget friendly option AND still offer a wedding day that is still stunning and memorable. Don’t get me wrong, you do not have to sacrifice elegance or quality!
Why NOT to have a Small Wedding?
Big, big family and the traditions that come with it!
If you have traditions that dictate your wedding day and you both decide these are things you want to incorporate, then a more traditional wedding may be the way to go.
Size of the Guest list: If you have more than 40 folks it can be logistically challenging to find a space that fits that many people without going the traditional wedding venue route. If you want to party and tear up the dance floor this might be a reason to have a more traditional wedding space where you have a floor and a DJ.
